In the RCS visual arts program, creativity and imagination are fostered through a blend of traditional and contemporary methods, materials, and concepts.
Students explore drawing, painting, and a diverse array of media as they develop their artistic techniques — and they’re encouraged to consider the profound role and influence of visual arts in the world around them.
We study the created to better understand the Creator. In the art room, that’s not an abstract idea — it’s what happens every time a student picks up a brush.
Preschool & Elementary
Pre-K–5th Grade
Every preschool and elementary student participates in weekly art classes, exploring materials, techniques, and big creative ideas in an age-appropriate, joy-filled environment. These early years build fine motor skills, visual thinking, and — most importantly — the confidence to create.
Middle School
Grades 6-8
Middle school students continue developing their skills with more advanced techniques, media, and concepts, building an artistic foundation for high school studio work.
High School
Grades 9–12
High school artists have access to a diverse array of course options, allowing them to refine their techniques, develop a personal artistic voice, and build a body of work they’re proud to exhibit.
Two Art Shows. Every Student Celebrated.
Each year, RCS hosts two art shows exhibiting student work from across the school. These shows are a highlight of our community calendar — a chance for families, grandparents, and friends to see what our students have created, and for young artists to experience the pride of seeing their work on display.
And the celebration isn’t limited to show nights — take a tour of RCS any day of the year, and you’ll find our hallways lined with student artwork on display throughout the building.
