“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Our Mission

The mission of the Resurrection Christian School Individualized Education (I-ed) program is to partner with families in the provision of Christ-centered, data-driven support systems that prioritize identified students’ fulfillment of their God-given purpose.

Individualized Education (I-ed) was founded and created upon the idea of “All means ALL!” An academic gap, learning disability, physical disability, or life challenge should not inhibit the ability to receive a Christ-centered education. RCS is focused on accomplishing this vision. As I-ed is still in the beginning years, the team has been working extremely hard to provide a strong foundation for students to thrive. Although we are not able to accommodate every exceptionality yet, we continue to look for ways to grow and develop the programming.

Over the coming years, I-ed will partner with general education teachers, administrators, and most importantly, YOU, to design an academic plan that will support your student throughout their educational journey. Students may continue to have their plan in preschool through 12th grade or may transition out somewhere in between. Either way, we are “all hands on deck” for your student’s learning!

God is so good, and we believe He created each of us with His unique design for the purpose of glorifying Him. Thank you for letting us be a part of your student’s unique design! We look forward to partnering with you and furthering this conversation!

Frequently Asked Questions

L.E.A.P. and G.O.A.L. Plans for RCS Students

RCS has two formal plans available to students: G.O.A.L. and L.E.A.P. Each plan is created based on the results of current (within 3 years) Academic and Cognitive Testing. RCS uses the Woodcock-Johnson IV to gather information. Both plans are supported by RCS teachers and are active for a year. Each year, students and parents will meet with the I-ed team to update the plan to meet the current needs of the student.

L.E.A.P. Plans

Lead & Equip to Achieve Purpose

  • Modifications and Accommodations
  • Individualized goals set to monitor progress
  • Updated and reviewed once a year, with ongoing progress monitoring
  • Similar to an IEP from a public school, however, IEPs are not transferrable to private schools. If a student transfers to RCS with an active IEP, we will utilize the information to write a L.E.A.P. Plan, but the IEP is no longer valid.
    • RCS Individualized Education is committed to providing accommodations and modifications to students in need and will be transparent about our ability to meet specific needs.

G.O.A.L. Plans

Growth Opportunities for All Learners

  • Accommodations only
  • Updated and reviewed once a year (or more frequently as needed)
  • Similar to a 504 plan from a public school, however, 504s are not transferrable to private schools. If a student transfers to RCS with an active 504, we will utilize the information to write a G.O.A.L. Plan, but the 504 is no longer valid.
    • RCS Individualized Education is committed to providing accommodations to students in need and will be transparent about our ability to meet specific needs.

Modifications vs Accommodations

What is a Modification?

A modification is a change in WHAT a student is taught or expected to learn and alters the curriculum.

Examples of Modifications:

  • Lower-level/abridged texts
  • Alternate texts/materials
  • Alternate projects that hit a different level standard
  • Adjusting grading scale or rubric
  • Different course with different curriculum

What is an Accommodation?

An accommodation is a change in HOW the student will learn the same material as their peers and alters the environment.

Examples of Accommodations:

  • Extended time (1.5x or 2x)
  • Small group settings for tests
  • Audiobooks for reading materials
  • Notes provided to use in lessons
  • Preferential seating
