Spiritual Life

Boldly Christian, From Preschool Through Graduation

At Resurrection Christian School, spiritual growth isn’t a subject — it’s the foundation everything else is built on. Every age, every stage, every classroom points our students toward a deeper relationship with their Heavenly Father.

Faith at RCS isn’t confined to chapel or a single class period.

It’s woven into the fabric of every day — from the way a preschooler learns to pray, to the way a senior packs a bag for an international missions trip. Our curriculum is biblically integrated across every subject and every grade, so students don’t just learn about God — they learn to walk with Him.

We believe spiritual growth happens in stages. What begins internally, as young children discover who they are and whose they are, grows and stretches outward — becoming a faith that’s lived out loud, in service, in worship, and in leadership.

Ages & Stages: A Faith That Grows With Them

Preschool

building the foundations

In our earliest years, students begin building the foundation of their identity in Christ — discovering who they are and whose they are. Through age-appropriate prayer, worship, and story, our littlest Cougars start forming a true relationship with their Heavenly Father, one built on love, wonder, and trust.

Elementary

Roots take hold

As students move through elementary school, that foundation takes root even deeper. Biblically integrated lessons run through every subject, and weekly chapels bring age-appropriate worship and teaching to life. Students also begin to live out their faith beyond the classroom, serving alongside local community groups and taking their first steps from an internal faith to an outward expression of it.

Middle School

faith finds its voice

In middle school, students’ spiritual lives begin stretching outward in new ways:

  • Bible reading habits begin. Starting in 6th grade, students open their Bibles every morning before the school day begins — building a habit of starting each day in the Word that we hope will stay with them for life.
  • Student-led worship. Middle schoolers begin taking ownership of chapel worship, leading their peers rather than simply attending.
  • Hands-on service. Each year, the entire middle school takes part in two full serve days together. Alongside these campuswide days, 7th graders serve at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, and 8th graders travel to South Dakota for a dedicated service project.

High School

faith lived out loud

By high school, students are equipped to carry their faith beyond RCS’s walls entirely:

  • Daily time in the Word continues each morning, grades 6–12, as a rhythm students carry into their day.
  • Student-led worship continues to grow, with high schoolers leading chapel for the entire secondary campus.
  • Service through athletics. Many of our sports teams incorporate service projects into their season, living out their faith as a team both on and off the field.
  • Senior international missions trip. Every graduating senior has the opportunity to go on an international missions trip — with past destinations including Costa Rica, Jamaica, Guatemala, and Belize — a capstone experience that sends our students into the world to be the hands and feet of Jesus before they even walk the graduation stage.

How We Teach: Theological Triage

Not every theological question carries the same weight

— and we want our students to know the difference. That’s why RCS teaches Theological Triage, a framework that helps students prioritize what they believe and why.

Primary Issues

Primary issues are the core of the Christian faith — doctrines essential to the gospel itself. These are the beliefs our students are taught to be ready to die for.

Secondary Issues

Secondary issues matter deeply to the health and practice of the local church, and often shape the differences between denominations. These are beliefs our students learn to defend.

Tertiary Issues

Tertiary issues are individual convictions and ministry preferences that give each believer and each church its own character. These are beliefs our students learn to discuss — with grace, humility, and an open hand.

By teaching students to think this way, we’re not just handing them a list of beliefs — we’re equipping them to navigate disagreement with wisdom, hold firm to the gospel, and extend grace on everything else. It’s a framework they’ll carry with them long after they leave RCS, wherever God calls them next.

Our Hope

Whether a student walks through our doors at three years old or seventeen, our goal never changes: that they would know God, grow closer to Him every year they’re here, and carry the Gospel with them wherever they go next. At RCS, spiritual growth isn’t a program — it’s the whole point.
