Our Philosophy

At RCS, we believe that humanity is made in the image of God (Imago Dei), and no technology can replace the depth of human interaction, relationships, and face-to-face communication.

We prioritize human agency in our approach to technology, ensuring that people—not machines—are at the center of decision-making. Technology is not something to be worshiped or used simply because it exists; rather, it should serve to enhance our mission as a boldly Christian educational community.

Devices by Grade Level

Preschool

No technology is provided or used at the Preschool level.

Elementary School

We provide 1:1 devices to support differentiated learning. For example, our Lexia reading platform adapts to each student’s needs, allowing them to progress at their own pace.

  • Grades K-2: iPads
  • Grades 3-5: Chromebooks, where students learn typing, word processing, presentations, and other foundational digital skills.
  • Device Policy: All elementary devices remain at school.

Middle School

Middle school students receive a school-managed Chromebook equipped with a locally installed web filter. These Chromebooks are configured exclusively for educational use, ensuring students stay focused on learning.

High School

High school students are required to bring a Windows laptop that meets RCS’s minimum specifications. Standardizing on Windows ensures compatibility with coursework and allows students to use the Microsoft Office suite, preparing them for college and career success.

Web Filtering & Security**

Bark Monitoring

We use Bark to monitor student online activity and detect potential concerns, such as suicidal ideation, threats of violence, explicit content, and cyberbullying. See the handout below for more information.

Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW)

Our industry-leading firewalls filter web traffic, enhance security, and exceed CIPA compliance requirements.

Middle School Web Filters

Chromebooks for middle school students include an additional web filter that limits access to educational sites, even at home.

** While no web filter or cyber solution is 100% foolproof, we partner with top security vendors to create the safest online learning environment possible.

Help Desk & Support

Our IT team provides on-site technical support for students, teachers, and staff, with an average response time of under one hour and most issues resolved on the first attempt.

We also train high school student Tech Assistants (TAs) to support troubleshooting efforts. Their training and responsibilities vary based on skill level and interest, offering valuable hands-on experience in IT support.
