Welcome to Middle Earth! (a.k.a. Middle School) Students in grades 6-8 are the most fun, most interesting, and most spontaneous! If you have a middle schooler you know what I mean and if you don’t yet, you will! I am in my second year at RCS and very much enjoy the staff and students of the middle school. We are a family and a team working with students and parents as we develop them as independent, young adults. Many kids at this age are just beginning to understand what a relationship with Christ truly means and we are privileged to see that happen in our students!
This is my 8th year in Christian Education, 14th year in school administration, and 24th year in education. I have worked in schools in California, Minnesota, and now Colorado. I am an Eagle Scout and earned a California Distinguished School Award with my first school as a principal in 2008. I have an AA degree in Liberal Arts, BA degree in Liberal Studies/Education, and MS degree in Educational Administration. I have teaching and administrative credentials in California, Washington, Minnesota, and Colorado. I have developed an outdoor education course for middle schoolers at my previous school and various student recognition, leadership, and service opportunities for our students.
I have been married to my wife, Lisa, for 29 years and we have two adult children. Our son is currently serving in the United States Air Force and our daughter is attending CSU completing her BA degree. We love the outdoor opportunities in Colorado hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, etc. I love digital photography, playing the guitar (over 38 years), riding my road bike, and exploring my new state! My wife and I have served in music ministry at various churches we have attended for 30 years. God opened the door of Christian education to me in 2010 and I have been blessed to be a part of this community. I felt called to RCS because of the impact it is having on the Northern Colorado Community and the role I can play in developing our students academically, emotionally and spiritually.
I am looking forward to expanding several areas of the middle school this year including our DENS classes, student recognition programs (#ultimatecougar), Student Council, Grade Level Trips, and service project opportunities. Our middle school chapels will continue to focus on real life learning and opportunities for Christ to be real to our students and their families. Please come by the middle school office or set up an appointment if you would like to know more about us and RCS Middle School.
