About Our Program

The fine arts program at RCS fosters creativity and critical thinking skills while enriching our students' educational, spiritual, and cultural lives. Through various courses in the performing, musical, and visual arts, our students use their talents to glorify God and positively impact others.

Elementary students from pre-K through fifth grade attend weekly music and art classes that allow them to explore and discover their talents. Middle school students select band or choir as a course elective. They can also participate in a drama class during the fall semester which exposes them to the excitement of performing in front of a live audience and working hard to create a meaningful and quality production. High school students may select from various courses in band, choir, and the performing arts where they have opportunities to compete at the district, state, and national levels.

Fine Arts Programs at RCS

Vocal

Vocal music at RCS begins in preschool and continues with courses offered through high school. Students are encouraged to learn and understand different cultural influences that shape vocal music and have the opportunity to perform in full choral, small groups, and worship settings.

Instrumental

Our musical arts program leaders seek to inspire, educate, and refine young musicians as they explore their talents through high standards or musical excellence. We encourage and nurture individuality and self-expression in all facets of musical education.

Theater

Students will experience all aspects of acting, musical theatre, and design and production. We encourage students to move toward self-awareness and self-expression as they explore their God-given gifts and artistic potential.

Visual Arts

Creativity and imagination are enhanced through traditional and contemporary methods, materials, and ideas. Through a wide range of course options, our students learn technique and creativity and are challenged to explore the role and impact of visual arts in the world around them.

The RCS Fine Arts program is a critical element of our overall curriculum. We study the created to better understand the Creator. One is never more like God than when being creative. Our goal is to achieve the directive laid out in Philippians 4:8 which reminds us,

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
