Spiritual Emphasis Week at RCS: Reflecting on the Heart of Holy Week

This week at Resurrection Christian School, our students have been walking through the journey of Holy Week as part of Spiritual Emphasis Week. From Ash Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday, we are taking time to reflect on the significance of these key moments and how they shape our faith.

A Journey Through Key Days on the Church Calendar

Our focus this week has been to guide students through a deeper understanding of Jesus’ journey to the Cross and His resurrection. Each day is centered on a specific event from the church calendar, with Scripture readings and engaging activities designed to help students reflect and respond.

Here’s a look at what we’ve covered so far:

🌿 Monday: Ash Wednesday
We began the week by reflecting on the call to repentance during a 6th-12th Grade Chapel in the Gym. Students explored Psalm 14 and Isaiah 59, focusing on the importance of turning our hearts back to God and preparing for the week ahead.

👑 Tuesday: Palm Sunday
Students participated in interactive rotations that traced Jesus’ journey from Bethany to Jerusalem. In mixed-grade groups, they visited four stations that highlighted the events of Palm Sunday, reading Scripture, discussing key moments, and engaging in hands-on activities to bring the story to life.

Today: Maundy Thursday Reflections

As we move into the heart of the week, today’s focus is on Maundy Thursday—the day Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of humility by washing His disciples’ feet. In classrooms, students are engaging in Scripture readings and discussions that explore Psalm 116 and Isaiah 58. Through these reflections, they are considering how Jesus calls us to love and serve one another with humility and grace.

What’s Coming Next?

✝️ Thursday: Good Friday
Students will once again engage in interactive rotations that guide them through Jesus’ journey from the Upper Room to the Cross. Each station will provide opportunities to reflect on Scripture, discuss the significance of Christ’s sacrifice, and engage in meaningful activities.

🌅 Friday: Resurrection Sunday
We will conclude the week with a 6th-12th Grade Chapel in the Gym, celebrating the joy of Resurrection Sunday. This powerful time of worship and reflection will focus on the hope and victory we have because of Jesus’ resurrection.

A Time for Spiritual Growth

Spiritual Emphasis Week is more than a series of activities—it’s an opportunity for our students to deepen their faith, reflect on Christ’s sacrifice, and embrace the hope of His resurrection. By walking through Holy Week together, we are helping them develop a greater appreciation for the Gospel and encouraging them to live out their faith in their daily lives.

We are so grateful for the dedication of our teachers and staff who are making this week a meaningful and impactful experience for our students. As we prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter, we are reminded that Christ’s love and sacrifice change everything.
